The Second World War witnessed a large number of casualties and loss of property in countries that were involved in the war. After the end of the Second World War, the main task was to reconstruct badly destroyed countries, including Germany.

Allied bombings have destroyed almost every town, town, and village in Germany, destroying millions of homes, public buildings, schools, factories, and centuries-old cathedrals, medieval houses, and other historic structures.

It is estimated that the war produced more than 400 million cubic meters of rubble that needed to be cleared before reconstruction plans could be carried out. This arduous task was borne by German women, as a large number of men died or became prisoners of war.

These pictures of ruined women carrying crumbled bricks and iron pieces with bare hands became a symbol of the German people's unwavering spirit, their courage, and their desire to rebuild their country.
