In January 2016, a woman named Wayan Mirna Salihin was rushed to the hospital after losing consciousness after drinking Vietnamese iced coffee at a mall cafe. Jessica Kumala Wongso, Mirna’s best friend, allegedly poisoned her with cyanide, which was later determined to be the cause of death.

Mirna and Jessica first met in 2008, when they were both students at the Billy Blue College of Design in Australia. After graduating, Mirna returned to Indonesia with her boyfriend, Arief Soemarko. Meanwhile, Jessica remained in Australia because she had been granted permanent resident status there.
