Al Capone, a gangster in the 1920s, was famous for his illegal business network. But who would have thought that the end of his legendary gangster’s life had to be spent in a psychiatric hospital. Al Capone was thought to have suffered a mental illness at the end of his life as a result of being haunted by the person he had killed.
Alphonso Gabriel Capone (1899–1947), better known as Al Capone, was an American gangster who led America’s Prohibition era. He was involved in the alcohol, gambling, smuggling, and prostitution businesses in Chicago from 1920 to 1931.
Capone was born in Brooklyn, New York, to Italian immigrants. He belongs to a gang called the Five Points gang. In his early 20s, young Capone moved to Chicago and began his criminal life.
Capone began his career working as a bodyguard as well as a trusted man to a man named Johnny Torrio. Torrio himself was the leader of a criminal syndicate supplying alcohol. Amazingly, Torrio was even protected by law through Unione Siciliana.
